Havening Techniques®

Havening Therapy for Trauma Healing

A gentle, science-led psychosensory approach to releasing stored trauma.

Havening therapy is a psychosensory trauma-healing method designed to reduce the emotional charge of distressing memories, calm the amygdala, and support long-term nervous system regulation. As a certified Havening Practitioner in the UK, I offer safe, structured sessions that help your mind and body shift out of survival mode and into resilience. We can work online so you can book sessions from anywhere in the world.

Havening is especially powerful for individuals who feel stuck in fight-or-flight, struggle to unhook from traumatic experiences, or find traditional talk therapy overwhelming or ineffective.

How Havening Therapy Works

Havening uses gentle, soothing touch (self-applied or guided) alongside specific eye movements and grounding techniques. This combination activates delta brainwaves, de-links emotional activation from traumatic memories, and helps the brain store that memory differently.

Research shows Havening can:

  • Calm an overactive amygdala

  • Reduce anxiety and emotional overwhelm

  • Release trauma responses held in the body

  • Create a sense of internal safety and grounding

  • Support long-term resilience and emotional stability

You don’t have to revisit trauma in detail — Havening allows healing through body-based processing rather than re-exposure.

What Havening Can Help With

Havening therapy is suitable for:

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Stress and burnout

  • Attachment wounds

  • Emotional flashbacks

  • Somatic symptoms of trauma

  • Somatic symptoms of trauma

  • Trauma from narcissistic abuse

If your nervous system is tired of holding everything together, Havening offers a path back to calm, clarity, and stability.

What a Havening Session Looks Like

A typical session includes:

  1. Creating safety – grounding, nervous system attunement

  2. Identifying emotional charge – without forcing details

  3. Guided Havening touch – self-applied (hands, arms, face)

  4. Clearing process – gentle techniques that remove the emotional intensity

  5. Integration – grounding, reflection, resilience building
