Sessions available online or in person in Hertford. No experience needed.

I work with trauma as a physiological experience, recognising that it is not only held in thoughts and memories, but also reflected in patterns within the body, nervous system and brain.

Often, symptoms of trauma, anxiety and chronic stress are protective adaptations shaped by overwhelming experiences, rather than signs that something is inherently “wrong” with you.

Over time, your body can become organised around survival and protection. Through embodied practices working with both conscious awareness and subconscious patterns, we begin supporting the nervous system to relearn safety, connection and regulation again.

Sessions may integrate approaches such as breathwork, Havening Techniques®, bilateral stimulation, mindfulness and trauma-informed somatic and yoga practices to help shift deeply held stress and survival patterns in a safe and supported way.

If you’re curious about whether this approach feels right for you, you’re welcome to book a free 20-minute call.

“Trauma and stress are not only something we remember, they are something the body and nervous system hold on to. When your body begins to safe feel again, everything else can start to change.”

I’m Esme, I specialise in trauma recovery and embodied approaches to healing.

Alongside my professional training, my work has also been shaped by my own experience of navigating stress, trauma and healing through somatic and body-based practices.

Whilst talking therapies can be incredibly valuable, I’ve found that healing often also involves working with the body, nervous system and patterns held beneath conscious awareness, so change can be truly felt and embodied.

This work is gentle, collaborative and grounded in the belief that healing happens through safety, connection and working at a pace that feels manageable for you so you can create true resilience and last change.

Testimonials

Here’s some common questions about somatic therapy, trauma-informed yoga and nervous system healing.

  • Somatic trauma therapy may be helpful if you feel stuck in patterns of anxiety, overwhelm, shutdown, stress or hypervigilance, even after trying to understand your experiences cognitively. This work focuses on supporting the nervous system and body, not just thoughts or emotions, to find saftey and regulation again.

  • Many people I work with have already tried talking therapy and understand their experiences intellectually, but still feel stuck in survival patterns. Somatic therapy works more directly with the nervous system and body to support greater safety, regulation and lasting change.

  • Somatic therapy and trauma-informed yoga both work with the body and nervous system, but in slightly different ways. Somatic therapy is more tailored and therapeutic, while trauma-informed yoga classes offer a gentle group-based approach to building safety, regulation and connection within the body.

  • Trauma and chronic stress can shape patterns within the nervous system and body, keeping us stuck in states of anxiety, hypervigilance, overwhelm or shutdown. Body-based therapy works gently with these patterns to support greater regulation, safety and resilience over time.

  • We begin gently, at a pace that feels manageable for you. The first session is a space to explore what you’ve been experiencing, understand your nervous system responses and begin building a sense of safety and support within the body.

  • No. You are welcome to share anything you feel will be helpful as we work together, but you are never pressured to talk about anything before you feel ready. Somatic work focuses on supporting the nervous system and body in the present moment, rather than repeatedly revisiting or retelling traumatic experiences.

  • Yes. Many people who experience trauma, chronic stress or overwhelm feel disconnected from their body or emotionally shut down. This work is designed to move gently and gradually, helping you build safety and connection at a pace that feels manageable.

  • Chronic stress often impacts both the nervous system and body, contributing to patterns of tension, exhaustion, pain or overwhelm. Somatic therapy supports the body and nervous system to begin shifting these patterns gently over time.

  • No experience is needed. The classes are gentle, trauma-informed and focused on nervous system support rather than performance or flexibility. You are encouraged to move at your own pace and listen to your body throughout.

  • My work combines nervous system regulation, somatic practices and trauma-informed yoga within a gentle, body-based approach that prioritises safety, pacing and attunement. Many people I work with have already tried cognitive or talk-based approaches but still feel stuck in survival patterns within the body.

  • Yes. I offer online 1:1 sessions for clients across the UK and internationally. Online sessions are designed to feel gentle, supportive and grounded, with the same nervous system-focused approach as in-person work.

  • The free guide and toolkit are supportive starting points for learning simple nervous system regulation practices at home. Classes offer gentle group-based support, while 1:1 sessions provide deeper, more personalised work for people looking for tailored support with anxiety, overwhelm, trauma or nervous system dysregulation.

Taking inspiration from my own experience, and chatting with my clients and students, I share insights and practices each week about trauma, the nervous system, somatic, yoga practices, and the science behind them.
