Esme Winterflood | Somatic Trauma Therapist based in Hertford and Online
When Trauma Symptoms Persist in the Body
I work with trauma as a physiological experience — not only as a memory or story, but as patterns held within the nervous system and body. You may understand what has happened to you, yet still experience anxiety, chronic tension, dissociation, shutdown, reactive fight-or-flight responses or ongoing PTSD symptoms.
Trauma is stored in the body as conditioned nervous system responses. When talk therapy has helped but symptoms continue to surface, a somatic, body-based approach can help release trauma patterns at their root — supporting nervous system regulation, embodied safety and lasting change rather than temporary symptom relief.
If you’re ready to move beyond survival mode and create lasting regulation and safety, you’re in the right place.

Work With Me
I offer somatic trauma therapy through private 1:1 sessions, alongside small trauma-informed yoga groups and online support. This body-based approach supports anxiety, PTSD and chronic stress by working directly with nervous system regulation and embodied safety.
This body based work may be especially helpful if you are experiencing:
persistent anxiety or panic
trauma symptoms that feel “stuck” in the body
chronic stress or nervous system dysregulation
dissociation or disconnection from your body
talk therapy that hasn’t fully resolved symptoms
1:1 Somatic Trauma Therapy
Private sessions focus on nervous system regulation, trauma release and restoring a felt sense of safety in the body. This work is particularly supportive when talk therapy has reached its limits and symptoms persist in patterns of anxiety, shutdown or chronic activation. Sessions can be offered as a standalone therapy or alongside ongoing counselling or psychotherapy.
Each session is paced and tailored to your needs. 1:1 sessions offered online, and in person sessions at The Secret Space, in Hertford, UK.
Trauma- Informed Yoga Classes
Small, therapeutic yoga groups designed to support nervous system regulation, embodied awareness and steady reconnection with the body. Suitable for those navigating stress, trauma recovery or ongoing anxiety or who simply want to explore how yoga can benefit wellbeing.
All groups are held at The Secret Space, in Hertford, UK.

About Esme
I’m Esme Winterflood, a somatic trauma therapist working with trauma as a physiological experience — supporting the body and nervous system to restore safety, regulation and choice.
My work is body-based, trauma-informed and grounded in neuroscience. Rather than focusing solely on retelling the past, I work collaboratively to help the nervous system settle, process trauma patterns and build embodied safety in the present.
This approach can complement talk therapy or be accessed as a standalone pathway — particularly when insight alone hasn’t brought the lasting change you’re seeking.
